Our Brangus sires have consistently, over a long period of time have helped us to achieve and enhance our long term breeding goals of breeding fertile, functional and efficient cattle for ourselves and our clients.
Elara Officer 466 displays all of the traits Elara expects in their sires.
Elara Officer is from a strong, fertile female line, with his dam having 12 calves when retired at 14 years of age. Officer has exceptional natural fleshing, depth and muscling, a beautiful coat and skin type and has a strong sirey outlook with a broad muzzle. Both Officer and his progeny exhibit very correct structure and strong constitution.
Officer has left us both exceptional replacement females and easily marketable sons that possess his desirable attributes.
We are very pleased with our calves by Officer. His daughters that we have retained feature his desirable traits and are breeding some of our top keeper calves whilst his sons are easily marketable. His progeny display his great constitution, skin and coat type, sound nature and structure and are heavily muscled.
Telemon History 159 was purchased at the 2014 Central Brangus Classic sale.
History has a strong sirey outlook, great coat and skin type, beautiful neck extension and shoulder placement, super sound structure, great body depth and, most importantly, an impeccable temperament. He is very active but also very quiet.
History's calves feature excellent replacement females and a high percentage of keeper bulls. They exhibit his excellent nature, great fleshing and structure, and above average growth. His daughters in production are very fertile.
History has balanced EBVs, placing him in the top 20% for 600 day growth, top 2% for scrotal size and top 30% for eye muscle area.
The calves by Telemon History are displaying his impeccable temperament and have consistently grown into outstanding potential sires and replacement breeders. They display exceptional fertility along with good growth and strong constitution. We are fortunate to have History in our already strong sire battery.
Bimbadeen Nike was purchased from the 2018 Bimbadeen sale. Nike has a strong sirey outlook, great length and muscling, combined with correct structure. Nike has good raw breedplan data and EBV profile, combined with a great temperament.
Nike's first crop of calves has left some keeper heifers and sale bulls.
Elara Tristan 708 was retained from our 2014 calf drop. Like all our home-bred sires, he comes from a proven, functional female line that breeds on and displays great longevity.
Tristan's dam, Elara Celine 184, has 15 calves to date and is rising 17 years of age and still very sound. Tristan's grand dam, Elara Celeste 112, has had 14 calves and was preg-tested in calf at 16 years of age. Tristan's great grand dam, Balara 90/0, had 15 calves when retired. We have many daughters retained from this awesome female line, along with many sale bulls.
Tristan has a great temperament, is very sound, displays good muscling and length, has a great constitution, combined with a perfect sheath.
Tristan also features balanced growth EBVs, placing him in the top 25% for 400 day growth, top 20% for eye muscle area and top 20% for fat EBVs.
Elara Black Hawk 416 is by Greendale Y629 and out of Elara Katie. Black Hawk was Katie's seventh calf at 9 years of age, with Katie having a 321 days to calving interval over 17 calves.
Black Hawk enjoyed a successful show career, culminating in being named the Brisbane Royal Show Grand Champion Brangus Bull in 2011. Black Hawk features great length, perfect sheath and testicles, good muscling, sound structure and an alert but docile nature. Black Hawk's first calves out of heifers have met our expectations with some good heifers retained in our herd.
Elara sold Black Hawk privately but has retained semen for future in-herd use.
Sunnyside Dewlap (pictured in 2006, during a severe drought and just prior to his last breeding season) was Elara's initial Brangus sire.
Dewlap was a higher content, long, heavily muscled and structurally sound sire. He had an exceptional coat and hair type, with a wonderful temperament.
Dewlap was reluctantly retired in 2007 at 13 years of age and weighing over 1000kg in paddock condition. Semen was collected and stored by Elara which will be utilised in future breeding programs.
Sunnyside Dewlap gave Elara an enormous boost by siring high performing progeny. Dewlap's progeny are extremely adaptable, demonstrated by his ability to sire lines of fertile, neat-uddered and functional females that exhibit his impeccable manner. Dewlap's females are capable of calving as two-year olds and then go on to produce a calf every year. This has been demonstrated with a few old girls still active in Elara's herd at 13 years of age and having produced 11 calves during that time. His sons also had the ability to breed on, demonstrated by sons being sold into leading studs and producing both high performance sons and daughters.
Levi was purchased privately from the paddock in 2020, from Hardy and Amanda Woodard. We were able to view both his dam and grand-dam still in production at Taloumbi.
Levi is a moderate, easy-doing sire that is structurally and reproductively very correct. Early calves from his first crop look promising.
Admiral was retained from our 2018 calf crop. He was the last calf from a very good Greendale Y629 daughter, Elara Amy 2nd, that comes from one of our foundation cow lines. Admiral's dam had 10 calves and retired at 12 years of age, his grand-dam had 13 calves when retired at 16 years, and his great grand-dam had 9 calves.
Admiral is a larger framed, mobile and active bull. He is long, well-muscled and structurally very correct. Like the majority of our homebred sires, Admiral has an exceptionally strong and proven dam line behind him that has produced many sale bulls and keeper quality heifers.
In addition, Admiral has balanced growth EBVs, placing him in the top 20% for the breed.
Elara Donny NN637 is a lower content, home-bred sire. Like our other home-bred sires, he comes from a strong, fertile and functional female line, with his dam having a calving index of 357 days over 7 calves. Donny is structurally correct, displaying great length and muscling, combined with a strong sirey outlook.
Greendale Y629 was a unique Brangus bull, displaying exceptional length, bone, high growth rates and EBV’s, with an outstanding constitution.
Like Sunnyside Dewlap, Y629 has left females that have proven to be excellent breeders and sons that have the ability to breed on.
He was purchased in 2005 and worked until 2010, when he weighed over 1100kg in paddock condition.
Elara Rory was always a stand out as a calf and has developed into a long, well-fleshed and muscled sire. Rory is quiet, structurally correct and has a great sheath and testicle development.
As with all our home-bred sires, Rory has come from a top dam (Elara 258) who has consistently produced daughters that breed on and sale bulls. Elara 258 has an average calving interval of 359 days over 10 calves to date.
Rory is pictured at almost 4 years of age after being with a mob of cows at Jandowae.
