ROYAL QUEENSLAND SHOW 2011

Grand Champion Bull at the Brisbane EKKA 2011 was awarded to Elara Black Hawk, exhibited by Elara Brangus. The young bull was selected from the largest class of the day featuring 13 exhibits, impressing the judge with his keen nature, mobile manner and excellent structure. Third placing in this class was Elara Marty, also exhibited by Elara Brangus. The three placegetters in this class also featured in the top three placings in a similarly strong class at the Toowoomba Feature Show in April 2011 and the Lismore Feature Show in October 2011.
Elara Brangus was also successful in the female classes, with the winner of the 20-30 month female class, Elara Charlene, being sashed Reserve Senior Champion and their group placing second in the Breeder’s Group.

TOOGOOLAWAH SHOW 2011

Elara Brangus entered the commercial trade cattle section in the Toogoolawah Show 2011. Entries were submitted in two grain fed classes with Elara winning both classes.
The Champion Pen of Grain Fed Steers or Bullocks was bred and exhibited by Elara Brangus. The pen was also the winner of the Pen of Three Steers or Bullocks Bred and Owned by the Exhibitor and Showing No More than Two Permanent Teeth. This pen had an average weight of 612kg, milk teeth and an average age of 21 months. Elara also won the class of Pen of Three Steers under 600kg liveweight showing no more than Four Permanent Teeth, with milk tooth steers at an average age of 20 months.

TOOWOOMBA FEATURE SHOW 2011

Over 60 head of Brangus stud cattle were judged at the Toowoomba Feature Show in 2011. Elara Brangus exhibited two heifers (Elara Charlene and Elara Bella) and three bulls (Elara Marty, Elara Black Hawk and Elara Guardian). It was Elara Bella’s and Elara Black Hawk’s first show.
Elara Marty was awarded the Reserve Junior Champion Male after coming second in his class of Bull 15 months and under 18 months. Elara Black Hawk was awarded third in the same class. Elara Guardian was awarded third place in the Class Bull 18 months and under 24 months.
Elara Bella was in a strong class of 12 heifers aged 15 months and under 18 months, and was placed fifth. Elara Charlene was awarded first place in the Class Female 18 months and under 21 months.
Elara came second in the Breeder’s Group, with Elara Marty, Elara Black Hawk and Elara Charlene.

LISMORE FEATURE SHOW 2011

A new line-up of Elara heifers and a young bull, Elara Officer, made their show debut at the Lismore Feature Show in 2011, in preparation for Beef 2012.
The youngest heifer, Elara Amy 4th, in Class Female 10 months and under 12 months, was awarded first place. In the Class Female 12 and Under 14 months, seven heifers were entered and Elara was awarded fourth place with Elara Sigrid 4th.
Elara Officer stood second in his Class Bull 12 and under 14 months, with eight bulls in the class. He then went on to win the Reserve Male Brangus Calf Champion.
Elara Marty and Elara Black Hawk were once again paraded in the same class of Bull 24 and Under 30 months, with Elara Black Hawk being placed second and Elara Marty third.
Elara Brangus then paraded Elara Marty and Elara Black Hawk in the group classes:
Class Pair of Bulls – first place,
Sires Progeny – first place,
Class Breeders Group (exhibits must be owned but not necessarily bred by the exhibitor) - Elara Brangus awarded third place from seven groups.
